“Chasing Sunsets – Country Lane” features a late summer sun setting over a peaceful, rural landscape. The scene captures the view from our Iowa farm looking across the road to our neighbor’s winding lane.
The name "Chasing Sunsets" speaks to that yearning we all have to cling to the beautiful but fleeting moments in life. I hope this painting gives you reason to pause, and another moment of peace, every time you walk by.
Late summer finds many of the native prairie flowers in full bloom, including butterfly milkweed, purple coneflower, and native sunflower. An old John Deere tractor with a sickle mower sits near stacked round bales as a great horned owl starts the evening hunt.
At this time of year, the local whitetail bucks are still friends, hanging out in a bachelor group. These bucks were all captured by trail cameras on our farm, but otherwise they evaded my chasing and enjoyed many more sunsets like this one.
