What does limited edition mean?
Limited edition means that a definitive number of prints are produced. The quantity is decided by the artist and the publisher. The number establishes the edition size and the artist signs and numbers each print. Example: 50/100. 50 is the individual print number and 100 is how many are in the edition. Each limited edition print or canvas is hand signed by Larry, sequentially numbered and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Limited edition art prints provide the opportunity to purchase art with a degree of exclusivity but at less cost than that of an original work of art. What does SN mean?
SN means signed and numbered. The print is individually signed by Larry, and it is from a limited edition, so it has a unique number written next to the signature. What does AP or Artist Proof mean?
The Artist’s Proof edition is usually, but not always, 10% of the limited edition size. For example, if the limited edition size of a print is 100 the artist’s proof edition would be 10. Artist’s proofs have a perceived higher value in the market place due to its limited supply and availability. Artist’s proofs edition is signified with “Artist Proof” or “AP” in front of the number (AP 1/10).What does open edition mean?
Open edition prints are fine art painting reproductions that do not have a limited print run. This means that the artist or company that owns rights to the painting may print as many reproductions as they want for resale. Prints may come in different styles, such as those printed on fine art paper or canvas. Zach Wildlife Art offers two sizes of framed open edition giclée canvases – the decorator or smaller image size and the encore, the larger image size. These open edition canvases may be signed by Larry but are not numbered. What does Giclée mean?
Giclée (zhee-CLAY) is a French term for the process of making high quality, fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. Giclée printers surpass traditional printers in terms of color range and print longevity. Our giclée canvases and prints are printed in-house with on our own eight color, 44 inch giclée ink printer using pigmented ink. We also do our own paper and canvas color management. This has allowed us to produce prints that are closer to the original image than ever before. We choose our ink, print materials, and equipment very carefully so we can provide the best in archival quality prints. Each print and canvas, either open edition or limited edition, is now printed one at a time, rather than hundreds in one day as on an offset press. Our giclée canvases are sprayed with several coats of a UV protective coating and mounted on hard gatorboard.Caring for your Giclée reproduction
Your fine art giclee reproduction is beautiful and delicate and should be handled with the same extreme care that you would give to an original painting. The giclee has been produced using superior printing technologies and premium quality materials. Treat this investment as you would any piece of fine art. To ensure that your giclee maintains its presentation quality for years of enjoyment, please adhere to the following recommendations when handling and displaying:
When transporting or storing, keep flat and protected to avoid damage.
Canvas giclee may be gently dusted using a soft, clean dry cloth.
Do not apply any additional coatings.
Reproductions on canvas require special attention. Because canvas weave is extremely hydrophilic (readily accepts and gives off moisture to the surrounding atmosphere), room climate should be controlled to avoid excessive stretching or shrinkage. A consistent environment with temperatures within the 60 to 85 degree Frange and relative humidity of 30-55% is recommended.
Use a professional framer who has experience framing giclee canvases.
Do not spray the back of the canvas with water or any other liquids. (Rapid shrinkage as it dries will promote cracking of the surface).
Avoid rapid fluctuations of environment an exposure to direct sunlight.
What does "sold out" mean?
Limited edition prints and canvases are “sold out” after the numbered prints or canvases are sold to collectors. Then, these sold-out images are only available on the secondary market, in which case, the value goes up and the collector pays more. Open edition prints are always available from the publisher and retain the original selling price.Does Zach Wildlife Art offer framing?
