Featuring the Iowa archery record deer, this painting is the first in Larry's new whitetail series called Trophy Bucks of Iowa.
Here Larry shares his inspiration for this painting:
"Whitetail deer are one of my favorite subjects, and if you want to paint big bucks you don't have to go beyond the borders of Iowa. The rewarding deer of this state inspired Trophy Bucks of Iowa."
"A friend told me about a tremendous buck taken on November 21, 2016 by Deric Sieck with a bow while stalking in Fayette County, Iowa. Once I saw the photos, I knew this was a great candidate to start the series."
"This buck has it all: a tremendous story, a new Iowa archery state record scoring 282 2/8", lots of history with the buck, numerous trail camera photos, and a mind blowing rack! To top it off, it's the largest buck ever taken by stalking, with any weapon.
"The rack has so much character from multiple angles that I decided to do not just one, but two paintings of the buck. The main painting, released as a limited edition canvas, features this amazing buck in a foggy morning setting and is titled Trophy Bucks I – The Deric Sieck Buck. The second painting, featuring a frontal portrait of the buck, is titled Sieck Buck Portrait and is released as an open edition companion piece."
