Two bucks - the Mascoutin non-typical and a 160 BC class, 10 pt typical

          tractors - John Deer and Farmall

          soda pop - Pepsi (sign) and Coke (bottle laying in foreground grass)

          seed corn companies - Pioneer and DeKalb (signs)

          2 rooster pheasants

          owl and crows

 

OLD RIVALS  II :

two bucks - massive Tussey non-typical and wide 14 pt typical

          pickups - Chevy and Ford

          gas companies - Mobil, Texaco, and Sinclair (pump on porch)

          tires - Firestone and Goodyear

          feed companies - Kent and Purina

          farm organizations - Farm Bureau and National Farmers Organization

          states - Minnesota (license plate) and Iowa (Farm Bureau sign)

          dog types - pointer and retriever

          birds - hawk chasing cardinal

          teams – hawk-mascot of Iowa Hawkeyes, cardinal-mascot of Iowa State Cyclones

presidential opponents - Kennedy (bumper sticker) & Nixon (farmer’s name-Farm Bureau sign)

          silos - tile, Harvestore, and concrete

          roofs - shingle and tin

          medicine - Ex-Lax (thermometer) and Pepto-Bismal (bottle in cab)

          machinery - John Deere (tractor) and International (combine)

          fence posts - home-made wood post, commercial creosote post, steel post

          dog and cat (Zach family house cat)

          2 rooster pheasants

          cedar trees invading grassy area - each trying to dominate the area

          two cottonwood trees growing out of the same spot, competing for water, sunlight and nutrients

 

OLD RIVALS  III :

two bucks - Iowa #1 (Clarken) & #2 (Hobart) nontypicals taken with a bow

          cars - ‘57 Chevy and ‘56 Ford

          tractors - John Deere and Farmall

          soda pop - Coca-cola (sign) and RC (thermometer)

          tires - Firestone (sign) and Goodyear (tire on tractor)

          gas companies - Shell (sign) and DX (can on porch)

          coffee - Butternut and Folgers (cans on tractor)

          states - Wisconsin (license plate) and Iowa (Hawkeye on barn)

          colleges - Iowa State (ISU sticker) and Univ. of Iowa (‘Hawkeye’ on barn)

          lights - Coleman lantern and porch light

          power - horse collar and tractor

          wheels - wooden (leaning on house), steel, (on planter), tire (on tractor)

          areas - town (in background) and country

          roofs - shingle and tin                                   

          water - well pump and city water tower                                          

          Cowboys and Indians - arrowhead and horseshoe

          signs of luck - dice and horseshoe
