I initially painted
April Sunrise - Wild Turkey for the simple reason that I have
always enjoyed sunrise on April mornings, especially if I am hunting
gobblers at the same time. The painting features a strutting gobbler and hen
on an oak ridge early in April before any new growth has started. Several years later when Iowa Ducks Unlimited decided to pick a non-waterfowl, print of the year I entered April Sunrise and was lucky enough to win the contest. That is how a turkey print became a state Ducks Unlimited print of the year. Since that time it has become quite difficult to find and very collectible.
